| Description With numerically driven 60W AC Servo motors combined with Feed Forward Processing (DAC-FFP) commonly used in larger, more expensive NC machines, the MDX-540 has been engineered to provide a robust device which can handle the most incredibly fast machining rates possible (driven by higher spindle torque and quicker feed rates) particularly when you're looking to machine softer materials typically used in the production of prototypes, whether that's blue foam, one of the many chemical model boards or plastics available from a wide range of suppliers. In terms of build size, the machine can handle a work-piece of 500 mm (X) x 400 mm (Y) x 155 mm (Z). The work-piece weight limit varies depending on feed rate acceleration. At 0.2G, the maximum weight is 12 kg rising to 20 Kg if you reduce the acceleration to 0.05 G. Other new features brought to bear with this machine include a hand held control unit, which sees all of the control built into a very small, but very easy to use unit that gives you access to not only all the set-up and calibration tools, but also manual control over the cutting process. This allows the more experienced user to ramp up or down feed rates as a job is progressing. There's also an optional NC controlled rotary axis which allows you to carry out multi-sided and cylindrical machining, plus a 4 station toolchanger option so your complex prototypes can be built in a single (or greatly reduced) number of steps. |
